The campaign
Apple is one of the most controlled brands on the internet - every launch choreographed, every visual considered. So when it wiped its entire TikTok archive and replaced it with a video of a lemon FaceTiming a lime, people noticed.
The account filled up with abstract color clips and brainrot-style edits, with no specs or features in sight. Some commenters genuinely wondered if the account had been hacked.
It wasn't. The MacBook Neo is Apple's most affordable laptop, aimed at a Gen Z audience with zero patience for traditional tech marketing — and Apple left the comments on, which for this brand is rare enough on its own.
The vibe check

Apple's campaign scored Siftsy Score of 6.0, which lands in Mixed territory - fitting for a rollout with no explanation attached. Sentiment leaned positive and the conversation stayed locked on what Apple posted. Most people were agreeing or discussing, very few were arguing, and the question of what Apple was actually doing stayed wide open.
Hand an audience a lemon FaceTiming a lime with no context and you get a lot of people asking "what is happening" in slightly different ways. They were entertained, they were curious, and they hadn't made up their minds yet.
What the comments revealed
The real insight
Apple never explained the pivot, and it didn't need to. The audience filled the silence in on their own, and mostly filled it in with something positive. For a brand with this much trust already built up, staying quiet about the "why" didn't cost them anything. It gave people something to react to and speculate about, which is part of why the campaign traveled as far as it did.
The Touch ID complaint is the more useful find. It never touched the overall sentiment, but it ran through the comments all week and never showed up in a views count or an engagement rate. That's the kind of specific, fixable feedback you only get by reading what people actually wrote.
